I wonder what the United States government would do if a foreign government were to impose sanctions on the country and then proceed to conduct war exercises along the Mexican and Canadian borders, because that is exactly what is happening with North Korea.
Today, while conducting war exercises along the North Korean border, a US government aircraft crashed, and no further explanation has been revealed thus far.
“The helicopter, identified by the Yonhap news agency as a UH-60 Black Hawk, came down in Cheolwon county, which touches on the border with North Korea, a defence ministry spokesman told AFP on Tuesday. The precise cause of the crash was not immediately clear, but the incident occurred during ongoing South Korea-US joint military exercises. Yonhap quoted emergency rescue workers as saying the 12 service personnel on board the helicopter had survived the crash, which comes at a time of heightened military tensions on the Korean peninsula.
A few more details came from the New Straits Times:
“Pictures from the site taken by the Yonhap news agency showed firefighters using foam to douse the burned out wreck of the helicopter which had clearly burst into flames after crash landing. The helicopter was taking part in an annual South Korea-US joint military exercise called “Foal Eagle.””
Kim Jong Un has made a statement saying that the war exercises were a “rehearsal for invasion”, and that is probably how it looks to the North Korean population. As to whether the US government will actually follow through on their threats or not still remains to be seen.
