California thirsty for blood


It has been estimated that the price of the death penalty in California is 300 million dollars per execution. Meanwhile schools there are crumbling and social programs are being cut. California is a state with some of the worst financial problems in the country and it seems odd to be spending so much on something that many voters oppose. So in the places where capital punishment is legal, does it actually deter crime so much that it’s economically viable to continue to keep around?
